About Me

Hi, I’m Jack, and I run The Creative Mole, a small, independent laser cutting, engraving and 3D printing business.

I specialise in producing railway related  products, including custom headboards, depot plaques, smokebox numberplates and signage. Alongside my own range of railway products, I also offer custom laser cutting, engraving and 3D printing services for businesses, organisations and individuals.

My Story

I started The Creative Mole in November 2023, initially producing engraved keyrings on a friends laser before investing in my own equipment and expanding into a wider range of materials and products.

My early work focused mainly on wood engraving such as chopping boards, before expanding into glass engraving and increasingly detailed custom projects. One of my first commissions involved producing engraved glasses for a 20th anniversary event, which helped me to develop my design, production and finishing techniques.

In November 2024, I attended my first craft fair in Reading in support of Thames Hospice, raising £250 for the charity.

I have since continued to support Thames Hospice, providing live medal engraving at the Thames Hospice Sunflower Walk in both 2025 and 2026, so far we have raised over £800 in total! These events have given me the opportunity to take my equipment and services directly to customers while supporting an important local charity.

As the business has developed, my focus has increasingly moved towards railway-related products and signage. I now work with heritage railways, organisations and private customers to produce detailed laser-cut and hand-finished pieces, from full-size railway headboards and signage to smaller-scale replicas and custom commissions.

More recently, I have also expanded into 3D printing, allowing me to combine laser cutting, engraving and 3D printing to create more detailed and varied products. This has also expanded the range of custom work I can offer, including personalised products, models, components, signs and other bespoke projects.

I will always continue to improve and innovate my product range, improving my techniques and taking on new and interesting projects., I aim to produce work that is accurate, well-made and built to the requirements of each customer.
